…[a]…citizen’s actions to help a foreign government overthrow, make war against, or seriously injure the [parent nation].
Oran’s Law Dictionary (1983), defining TREASON, quoted in Wikipedia. General Petraeus says that the Qur’an burning scheduled for this weekend will incite violence against the United States. That sounds like contributing to serious injury, at the very least, if not outright making war. So should Terry Jones and his cadre of wingnut bastards be considered treasonous? Should Obama stage his own ‘preemptive strike’ against them and have them arrested before they can carry it out? I know it’s delicate ground, and the First Amendment allows them to express their opinion, which is especially important in times of turmoil—but still…. Savonarola and Hitler did the same sort of thing, and, needless to say, things didn’t turn out well for the world. Fortunately Jones isn’t in charge of the country, but in cases like this, one thing always leads to another, and before you know it, those things have gotten out of hand.
